Atmospheric room in heritage area is good value - but ask for WhatsApp checkin instructions!

Liked Excellent locale in Little India, adjoins the back of Pinang Peranakan Mansion tourist attraction! (which you can enter via the restaurant back door during business hours). Quiet for sleeping during the night. Atmospheric room with heritage furniture, comfy beds, functional bathroom, and good air conditioning. Free nibbles and some bottled water (no minibar charge). Good value for money overall.

Disliked While your mileage may vary, our check-in experience was terrible. This is more like a homestay not a hotel - there are three nice suites above a restaurant - however, there is no staffing & the restaurant is closed except for in the evenings. No one met us at our requested and pre-disclosed checkin time and we hadn't been given any emailed WhatsApp checkin instructions. So we couldn't get in for about an hour after arrival, despite arriving at the appointed time!? (If you book thru Air b n b there might be a smoother process.) The owners were helpful however after these initial checkin problems. Make sure to get their WhatsApp details before arrival!

Liked Nice, comfortable place in Little India. The room is big, and it's quiet at night

Disliked Very dark the whole time, even during the daytime, very little natural light comes through the shutters

Friendly staff but the room is not well maintained including hygiene.

Liked Staff are friendly and helpful.

Disliked Hygiene is a concern as we found hair on the both beds, and after contact the cleaner did come on the second day to made beds rather than changed the beddings. Some of the furnitures are broken and the bathroom sink was half blocked. We have reported the blockage but no action taken. Disappointed. The rooms are upstairs, there is no lift.
