Unwelcoming and disappointing

Disliked Rather unwelcoming place. Dark, unwelcoming, cavernous. Sheets over furniture and blinds closed, not a cup of tea or coffee in sight, a big ring of keys to carry around but no access through house to pool etc. The whole environment pretty much said "give me your money and go away". Numerous signs and rules, plus a request by the owner for a 200MYR deposit by bank transfer after making the booking. Owner had a PIN system for check-in but didn't send the PIN as promised. Also failed on a few basics. Water wasn't working all morning. So I had to swim in the pool to get clean. Cold water Coway wasn't working. Quiet neighbourhood but noise carried easily between rooms. Towels were plush and useless. No hand soap for sink. Beds and sheets were nice though. Neighbourhood has NOTHING around. You need to drive to get to shops or restaurants. It's an area for the rich. I've had many warm, welcoming hotel experiences in Malaysia. This one felt stingy and penny pinching. It would work to hire the whole house for a family gathering. But still, one senses the owner would try to layer on too many rules to relax and would be scrapping to grab as much cash as possible. Probably a good attit
