Exceeded expectations. Would highly recommend staying in this piece of history.
Liked Staff were attentive but gave you space. Room and bathroom were spacious. Drinking water, tea, coffee, snacks and umbrellas were provided, and the bonus evening turn-down service with a little treat was so lovely. I didn't miss the lack of TV (great books on offer), and really appreciated the darkness to allow for morning sleep-ins. The hotel and room (Anistar 3) were excellent for three guests.
Disliked It would have been great to have a small fridge in the room. Some accessibility issues if you are mobility-impaired or in a wheelchair.

Perfectly located, beautifully restored, spotless, with a staff that goes above and beyond.
Liked East Indies Mansion is one of those rare places where you really feel that every detail matters. Perfectly located in the heart of Georgetown, just steps from Armenian Street, Chulia Street, and plenty of great restaurants and attractions. The mansion itself is a beautifully restored historic Chinese house. Each room is unique, decorated with elegant antique furniture, and kept immaculately clean. The linens and towels smell wonderfully fresh, and even the toiletries like soap, shampoo, and conditioner are of excellent quality. But above all, The staff truly made the stay exceptional. Everyone was warm, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. During our stay, there was a small incident where a personal item of great importance to us was accidentally thrown away. The team went above and beyond to make it right and managed to find a replacement for us. That level of care and genuine kindness is something you’ll never forget. If we return to Penang, East Indies Mansion will absolutely be our first choice.
